| I think the last chapter with that anecdote about our sneaky Namo is one of my favourites in this story! Is there any chance that we´re ever going to get to read Rhyselle´s story about that? Let me guess: Turindil is Beleg Cuthalion, isn´t he? Author Reply: I do not know when or if Rhyselle will ever post her story, though I sincerely hope to see it some day for what I've read of it is quite good. As for Turindil's identity.... it will be revealed soon enough. I don't want to spoil the surprise. *grin* | |

| Being reborn seems way too hard. I am certainly glad we don't have to go through it. It will be most interesting to see what happens when Turindil and Glorfindel finally meet. Tari Author Reply: Well they say that resurrection is hard too so we'll have to see. | |

| Hmmm, another elf that has been released too early and this one doesn't even know who he is! I feel so bad for him, having no family around. Where does he even live? sigh. Yet, there is something about him that is so familiar to several of the other elves, including Olwe and so that makes me wonder if he is related to him in some way. I'm anxious for Finrod or Glorfindel to see him; I have a feeling that one or both of them know who he is. His name must be a clue, but again I don't see it! :) Finally a mention of Gil-Galad, my second favorite elf after Glorfindel!! :) Though, I must say that Finrod is creeping up there now. I know he can't fit in this story, but it was nice to at least read his name. *grin* I enjoyed Vana in this chapter and the way she interacted with Turindil. He seems so very young, though I suspect he is not, just feeling lost and alone. I'm not sure I'd like to see Namo wearing yellow! Blue would be okay, but not yellow! :) Author Reply: Well, I'm not sure it's true to say that Turindil doesn't know who he is, but rather his memories are too vague to put names to faces and make it all fit together. Glad you liked Vána and Turindil together. Yes, he is old, but right now he's too new to Life again to claim that part of him much. He's just feeling lost and alone right now. Hopefully, that will change soon. No one wants to see Námo in yellow including Námo! That's the whole point of the joke, isn't it? *grin* | |

| You had me rolling on the floor with this quote, Fiondil.... "the time spent in Mandos was ignored..." Ignored by whom!?! Definitely not the Reborn! Poor Turindil - it's a good thing there are 'some' Elves with a modicum of decency. I felt for him as he 'rocked back and forth' and his face reddened in embarrassment. The question he asks of Vana was heartbreaking - 'why was there no one to greet me?' And the sense of guilt he had because of that... I hope he took Vana's admonition to heart! Being Reborn is not fun! Author Reply: No, sometimes being Reborn isn't fun. Besides all the angsty stuff you have to go through on a personal level as you reclaim your previous identity, you have to put up with other people's prejudices and preconceptions. The time spent in Mandos was ignored in terms of determining if an elf was old enough to fight under the rules. Should a Reborn elf be said to have begun life again after Mandos or not? Finrod would have been okay as he's been out of Mandos of over a century, but that's not the case for Glorfindel or Haldir. It was descided that the age of the Reborn would be determined based on how old they were when they died and as if they had never died. But I'm glad you found the sentence funny. It's really more ironic than funny to my mind, but to each his or her own. *grin* | |

| Hmmm ... it appears that my initial distrust of this mysterious archer was unfounded, at least until now. What Vána said indicated it is not one of the kinslayers or another baddie. And even Olwë feels he is somehow familiar? Interesting. But though I have some vague ideas, I’d better not even try and guess more about Turindil’s history; my knowledge about the First Age is too limited. Have still not managed to read the whole Silmarillion, but only bits and pieces of it. I have to admit that I like Turindil. Poor guy, it must be a terrible feeling to have only vague memories of his former life and then nobody there who knows him, no family or friends to welcome him back. It has to be a comfort for him that Mithlas was worried enough to come after him, and I hope Mithlas and the others will take him under their wings. Oh, and btw, good to know how Mithlas was convinced to sail at last *lol* And the image of Námo in yellow left me laughing – could any of these impudent elves keep a straight face at this? I’m happy enough with him wearing blue and green for a change! Vána is naughty to even suggest this bet! Though it was a nice look at this couple. Author Reply: I'm sure that Mithlas and Gilvagor especially will "adopt" Turindil and make him their gwador soon enough and Aldarion won't be too far behind. And I hope that I was able to convey with the conversation between Vána and Oromë the love they have, not only for each other, or for the Reborn, but for Námo, as well, that they can joke about his sartorial tastes. And no, I don't think any of those elves would be able to keep a straight face if their lives depended on it. LOL | |

| Another lovely chapter, Fiondil! I think I know who Turindil might be, but I'll wait and see. I do love your Sindar characterizations. By the way, I have to ask: "...he tied with a Nando named Denethor." Is this THE Denethor, or another Nando of that name? Pretty neat if he was! Thanks, Encaitariel Author Reply: Well, THAT Denethor, the leader of the Nandor into Beleriand, did die, so it's most likely that he has been reborn since then preferring to live among his own kind on Tol Eressëa. I'm glad you like my Sindar characterizations. They are quite different from the more refined Noldor and Vanyar, which make them all the more interesting. | |

| Oh what a delightful chapter! I really enjoyed this. You do have my mind running in about a hundred directions trying to figure out who Turindil is that so many recognize him. I even pulled out my copy of the Silm trying to figure out where he came from and who he might possibly be. I have a couple of theories, but I'll keep them to myself, since you won't tell me if I'm right anyway. *wink* I am happy to see Mithlas not only healed, but now helping others thanks to his stay in Lorien. Loved the Cabor Gabel! I wonder, do they serve Cabor legs? *grin* I really enjoyed the whole exchange between the ellyn. And Turindil's reaction to Glorfindel and then Finrod's names really made me think. And then I was back to trying to figure out who this elf is. His name is very interesting indeed. I also find it very interesting that Glorfindel knows many people who could answer his questions about Earendil and his line, yet he never thinks to ask? Or it never comes up around him. LOVED Lord Elrond throwing Mithlas on the boat! LOL! Then of course, Lady Vana shows up (I like her) and you got my mind swirling again about who Turindil could be! But mostly, I LOVED this interplay between Vana and Orome. I just adore seeing the Valar in their roles as spouses. You write it so well. Now...tell me just ONE thing. What is wrong with wearing black? *looks down at all black ensemble* I mean...black is CLASSY! It's slimming! It's...yes, I know, depressing but I love black! Vaire getting Namo into the green was nice, I admit. (it was a darker green after all. And he looks great in midnight blue too.) But BRIGHT YELLOW? With his blue-black hair, he will look like a bumble bee! *snickers* Wouldn't the elves find THAT shocking.... Great chapter, Fiondil. *loud applause* Author Reply: Well, no one actually recognizes Turindil, they only feel as if they should but they can't put a name to him. And so far, only Mithlas and Olwe seem to feel they should know him. No one else has had that reaction to him. And black is okay, but ALL the time? It gets old real fast. And of course, there are all different shades of yellow (Orome doesn't specify *bright* yellow, merely yellow), so Namo wouldn't necessarily look like a bumble-bee. Still, it would be interesting to see him in something other than his usual palette of dark shades... and see who dares to laugh. *snicker* | |

| I never expected Tulkas would freak out the archers to that extent! *snicker* Mithlas and Glorfindel exchanged looks which the Vanya could not interpret -- I think you mean Mithlas and *Gilvagor.* *sigh* And I had such a *good* theory about the Mystery Archer! No wonder he’s doing so well in the contest, if that’s who he is.... Interesting that no one seems to know who he is (even he himself) -- not that I doubt the Valar! I can see why Mithlas recognizes him, and how Turindil knows Finrod, but not sure how he would have known Glorfindel. Guess it’s time to re-read the Sil. [And I had him pegged as a Bad Guy! Now to rework my end-of-the-tourney scenario with Turindil winning the archery prize....] Sorry, but I did spend all those years as a (volunteer) proofreader for a ton of calendars and bibliographies and handouts, so I have to ask: Are Elessairon (Glorfindel’s friend, the Noldo “fosterling” whose father is -- um -- Calmacil?) and Elessoron Aranwion (winning archer at the *first* tourney) two different ellyn, or the same ellon with two slightly different names? Elessoron appears in ch. 95 to win the archery prize, then shows up again in ch. 125 as an archery competitor in the *second* tourney, but now in this chapter is apparently out of the competition (spooked by Tulkas?). Everywhere else it’s Elessairon (I’m pretty sure). I’d assumed they were different ellyn, but now I’m thinking they’re the same person: we never see the two of them together.... [Darned elves should be named Joe and Fred, or even Javier and Héctor -- or for my current Southern incarnation, maybe Billy Bob and Kenny -- and I’d cope better.... Don’t mind me.... 8-)] Námo in bright yellow ... GACK. Author Reply: Thanks for pointing out the error in names. It should have read *Gilvagor*. However, Elessoron and Elessairon are two different ellyn. The former is a Vanya, the latter is a Noldo. And apparently he did not score as high as others, as he did not make it into the final round. Like I said, no one shot as well as they would've liked after seeing Tulkas and Finrod together. The way it goes, even in real life. | |
