Neath Anor, Ithil, and Gil  by Larner 6 Review(s)

What a shock it must have been for them to realize that he really isn't the little brother or even the scruffy chieftain of Rangers anymore - and they'll have even more shocks to deal with soon, seeing their sister marry him.

Author Reply: No matter how much you think you're ready for such a thing, to feel the actual break in her fea that brings her in line with her beloved and away from them would be a wrench, for certain.

:) Ah, yes, the question all older siblings ask when suddenly they turn around twice and there's the youngest, no longer "the little one." "When did he grow up?!" I find myself saying the same thing now, as my baby brother just turned nine(!), and my little sister will be eleven in May--and thinks she's a teenager already. *grimaces*

I love the image at the end of this. :) Perfect for these two witnesses, I think.
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: They've seen so many Men grow old and die; to know this one is definitely a grownup ready to fulfil his responsibilities must make their scalp tighten!

And my daughter is a mother, and my older grandson could easily find a love and seek to marry at any time. As for the one who'll be eighteen in a few weeks--I was in the birthing room when he was born! If you don't thin THAT feels odd!

Considering their huge age difference, it is probably understandable that they still felt Aragorn to be the 'little' brother. They'd feel so even after millennia if he were immortal, I suppose.

But if there was any particular moment to realise he's all grown up now and has matured into the man he is, then it had th be then. (You could argue he proved that at the Paths of the Dead already, but back then they were way too busy to notice).

Author Reply: This is the point at which there is no question he IS mortal, and venerable and competent as a fully mature mortal at that. Here their paths diverge, unless one chooses to follow the mortal path....

Am so glad you had this reaction to this drabble. Thanks so much.

he is wholly a Man--and in many ways is more kingly than I’ve seen yet amongst Elves.

What a high compliment indeed!

Author Reply: Indeed, Shirebound! Thanks!

Oh, I do love that! If you've earned the respect of your family, and elves at that, then you really have done well!

Author Reply: I'm so glad you like this, GW! Am looking forward to more of your works, btw. Heh! Thanks!
