Keeper of the Jewels  by Cuthalion 6 Review(s)

Named for the Lady of Light, yet she has chosen blind obedience to a father she knows has no use for her.

Now, to find out what they've done with Sam!

Loved seeing our Frodo carefully retrieving the pearls.

Sad yet sgnificant characterization in a nutshell. *bows* And I had the picture in front of my inner eye Artanis sees, too - the Ringbearer, bowed to collect the pearls from the floor. It felt "right" somehow.

Artanis leads a very complicated life. Much of it seems to be ruled by her father. I found myself feeling a bit sorry for her as I read this chapter even knowing how involved she is in all of this. Now that she knows that they have the wrong Hobbit I wonder if she will tell anyone or if she will let things stay as they are hoping that no one else finds out.

The plot's thickening, I see - still enjoying this very much, and hope to see more soon!

Author Reply: While receiving your review, I'm working on chapter 5 - alas, RL often keeps me from writing when I'm most waiting to finish a story. I hope my faithful beta will have the finished chapter on Tuesday. And thank you very, very much!

I am starting to feel sorry for Artanis now.Maybe she will come to see the error of her ways?A gripping chapter.

Author Reply: Thank you, Linda! Well, there are villains and... villains, isn't it? Just wait and see!

So, Artanis' opinion about Aragorn is actually her father's!
She's had not enough time yet to think it over and change her mind. I think this is possible, or I hope so. Unfortunately, after discovering that the wrong halfling was abducted, she will only fear her father's reaction!

Frodo is great! He'll set out on his own to find Sam every minute now, I guess!
And poor Sam! I hope you won't hurt him too much.
(I'm still pondering about that *evil grin* in your reply to Dreamflower. Oh my!)

Author Reply: Well, I ve still one or two aces in my sleeve - just wait. And would I ever really hurt poor Sam? Okay, a tiny little bit, but he will come out of this adventure without being harmed too much. Thank you for your enthusiasm!

Oh my, Artanis is turning into a very interesting character--she has a conscience. Now I want to know more about her father, and why he thinks of Aragorn as a "usurper".

And oh dear, poor Sam! I do hope you get back to him soon, or I'll have no fingernails left.

Author Reply: Thank you! You know, if I undertake to write an OC, he/ she should be interesting and complex, or we would have a Mary-Sue. And Sam will most definetely be in the next chapter - though you won't be too comforted, I fear. *evil grin*
