Ere Darkness Falls  by Lily Dragonquill 4 Review(s)

Amazing images! I could almost feel that sting myself.I agree with the other reviewer who said this sounds very like Tolkien's writing. Well done.

Author Reply: Thank you very much. I love to fill the gaps in LotR if I'm not writing pre-quest stuff and I'm always glad to hear I caught Tolkien's voice. There is no higher praise.

Yes, his thought would be for Sam to save himself. Glad the gardener managed to save both in the end.

Author Reply: Glad the gardener managed to save both in the end.

Save both and avenge his master.

Thank you.

For dying he was. Frodo could feel the very breath of life being taken from him.

That's exactly how he must have felt. And the worst part of it must have been that he was unable to move and even to speak.

This was the end and he did not even have the strength to fear it.

The last sentence is simply brilliant!

Author Reply: It must have been terrible for Frodo to be so helpless in a moment like this.
Thank you, dear. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I do my best to get you an update on Schicksalsjahre :)

If I didn't know the story of LOTR like the back of my hand, and if someone had told me this was taken out of the book, I'd believe it. I'm serious, this looks like something Frodo might have considered putting in the Red Book, but taken out because "it wasn't important," or something. Excellently done, and very realistic, Lily!
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: I think there is no greater compliment you could have given me. Thank you so much. It was delightful to write this moment from Frodo's POV. I don't think he ever told anyone.
