Ah, poor Paladin - that Pippin was a handful and a half but gotta love him and it is good that they remained close.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Yes, it truly is! Thank you!

Oh, well done, that is a lovely panorama of a father's feelings.

The realization that Pippin was caught beneath such a heavy weight must have been terrible indeed! I am so glad that the premonition proved to have mislead Paladin in the end, and that his son returned to him bigger and better than before, one who had learned to lead as well as to follow, one who knew what he could do to return freedom to his own. Lovely series!

Author Reply: This idea came to me as I began to write these drabbles. Since my Shire 'verse got it's start with Lulleny's story "The Prodigal Took" and she had indicated that Paladin had declared Pippin dead rather sooner than I would have expected, I've always wondered what made him so sure his son had died--if he'd had a brief vision of Pippin at that moment under the troll when Pippin himself thought he was dead, that would account for it! It just suddenly hit me, and I realized I'd found the answer!
