Shadow and Thought  by Linda Hoyland 4 Review(s)

These people could certainly learn the value of speaking to each other! They misunderstand each other constantly - and always seem to think the worst. Good thing for Aragorn that he has Faramir's unquestioning and constant support.

It is to be hoped they eventually learn to communicate, but at least Faramir is Aragorn's no.1 fan !

Good work by Eowyn and Faramir to keep Aragorn warm and alive, and I liked how the King thought of Arwen and the baby to help keep the darkness from taking him. And hey, finally Eowyn and Fara are in the same bed--that's a great improvement for them!

Aragorn is now bringing Faramir and Eowyn together just as unwittingly as he kept them apart !

This chapter is very powerful, especially the part where Faramir is mentally willing Aragorn to live, and then sings an Elvish lullaby to him.

And Eowyn is noticeably thawing towards Faramir - obviously they're still physically attracted to each other. Good to see that despite her tremendous, pent-up anger against Aragorn, she's too good-hearted to allow him to perish on her watch.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you found the chapter powerful.I often wonder if Faramir shares any of the healing abilities, though he is not King.I have tried to soften Eowyn and make her more likeable in this rewrite.

Still here Linda. Still reading again and appreciating. I keep coming back to this story on the other site when I am too tired for new stuff. At least Eowyn doesn't let her hurt and hatred get in the way of caring for her patient (well, eventually.) We women still have to learn that the other half of the human race can't read minds as well as we can so why am I expecting Eowyn to know this? *g*

BTW - Yes, your new story is an easier read and I am enjoying it but I am beginning to feel like Arwen. I want to bang their heads together and hold them there until they either thought meld or, at the very least, talk to each other!!!!! Mind you, wrestling naked sounds good too! Sorry about reviewing it here but the other site frustates me!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm always pleased when anyone thinks a story worth a second look when I revise it.
You are spot on about what is wrong with Eowyn.Faramir is a perceptive man but not that good at mind reading, especially not with women !

I'm pleased you are enjoying my new story too.I promise Arwen is determined to do something, though I can't promise even she can make them try nude wrestling ! I am fed up with the other site too, there has been a vile "Story" up for weeks now they do nothing about, and you never knowwhen the site goes down.I was sorely tempted to just put my new story here instead.
