Shadow and Thought  by Linda Hoyland 4 Review(s)

Praise the Valar! Help has finally arrived in the form of a ticked-off Shieldmaiden. I agree with her about leaving the bodies of those two horrid would-be murderers to the wolves. However, I'm really nervous about her caring for our Aragorn, particularly after you described her looking at him like "a cat which had captured a stubborn rodent." I feel Aragorn is not in for any kind of tender loving care from her, but at least he will get that from Faramir.

The part about the cat provides a vital clue, for Eowyn has the man she believed wronged her at her mercy !Faramir, though, will discover just how special Aragorn has become to him.

Yes! Eowyn to the rescue! Though, it has to be said, she is better with a sword than with a healer's kit. The sort of healer that succeeds because no-one in her presence will admit to needing care.

At present there is still much of the wild Shieldmaiden in Eowyn and I try to develop her in my stories to become gentler.

She would certainly in this story have all her patients deciding they were cured after one visit to her !

"Leave them to the wolves!" indeed! Eowyn is one tough lady; though I can hardly blame her.

Good description of the medical care. I can't believe that Eowyn's hands would be consciously so rough on a wounded man; perhaps she's nervous; since she's still relatively new to the healing arts and doesn't work on badly injured men every day, particularly one who's her liege-lord and with whom she's angry.

I think Eowyn is indeed nervous and inexperienced.I try to show her improving as my stories progress.

I am glad to reread this Linda. Having just finished the other one on the other site I am still not sure that I can quite cope with rereading and commenting on that but I will try - still in shock from that one! :) But looking forward to the follow up from it.

It is good to hear from you.
I admit I found my other story somewhat gruelling to write.I promise my sequel will be easier going for my poor readers!
