A Shire Sketchbook  by Baggins Babe 12 Review(s)
Queen GaladrielReviewed Chapter: 25 on 2/16/2007
Dear me, I seem to have missed so very much more than I thought! I love the last line of this, LOL! Yes, exactly how much mess could they make in an afternoon? :)
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Can you imagine two Rangers in a kitchen? eeep! I'm sure they could make a lot of mess but they could probably produce reasonable food as well.

Just delightful !

Author Reply: Glad you liked my little look at our favourite hobbits on their birthday.

This was lovely, too - and I wonder just how much of a mess then men *will* make?

Author Reply: I think I may have to do a follow-up just to find out!

You absolutely have to do a follow-up tale of Aragorn and Faramir unleashed in the kitchens.

Author Reply: A sequel looks more and more likely, and would be fun to write.

Forget the food - my mouth is watering at the image of those two tall Numenorean hunks puttering around the kitchen, wearing old, comfy clothes, getting flour on their hands.

Seriously (when I'm not thinking of the two tall Numenorean hunks), a lovely vignette. And the recipes sound wonderful.

Author Reply: ;-)) I think a lot of us feel like that! Gave me a nice mental picture to start my day this morning!

Absolutely deliightful! I am sure those books will become treasured family heirlooms! And mischievious cats named "Merry and Pippin". Just too good.
Yoy know, I think we take our presses and home computers with their capacity for fast reproduction for granted. i can only imagine how long such copying must have taken in our own middle ages!

Author Reply: I'm sure these books will be treasured heirlooms, and it is sobering to think of the effort which went into making such things in the days before machines.

Cats are always fun, and aragorn's gift from Chapter 8 are now a year old and just as impish.

They know the value of diplomacy, do they? And glad to see Frodo has been following his trade. Heh!

Author Reply: Well, I have to give Frodo something to do. ;-)) I'm sure he enjoys copying and binding books, particularly for dear friends.

Like most wives, the ladies know when to bite their tongues!

DreamflowerReviewed Chapter: 25 on 9/18/2006
Oh, now that's hardly fair! You've made me drool, and my stomach is rumbling like a hobbit's!

Actually, I'm not sure that they'd be all that bad in the kitchen--Rangers have to do for themselves after all. And both of them *did* help Rose out in the kitchen during the visit--so they know how she did things. They might just surprise their wives!

And kittens in the paper! Is there anything cuter?

Author Reply: I'm sure Aragorn and Faramir can cook perfectly well - but like most men I'm sure they will use every pan, pot, dish, bowl and utensil in the Royal Kitchens and make a huge mess in the process. ;-))

The feline Merry and Pipppin are now a year old but not above leaping in and out of the wrapping paper. I've almost gift-wrapped a cat any number of times!

Hope your tummy has stopped rumbling by now!

Faramir was mumbling deliriously.

*giggles* What amazing and precious gifts! And I can just imagine the state of the Royal Kitchens after two ex-Rangers have been clattering away in them.

*deliriously happy whenever you update*

Author Reply: *deliriously happy whenever you update*

Well, that always make me happy!

Yes, the state of the kitchens doesn't bear thinking about, does it? I will have to write a follow-up about their adventures in the kitchen.......

"Legolas could read upside down, which irritated Gimli enormously as he felt sure he was missing something."

"He had misjudged Elven hearing. Behind him Arwen leaned close to Eowyn. "I wonder how much mess those two can make in an afternoon?"

Although questioned about the reason for their laughter, the ladies remained diplomatically silent."

LOL LOL LOL

Charming, most wonderfully charming!!

Author Reply: Well, they did ask for a Shire cookbook in 'Birthday Surprises' so Rose and Frodo have obviously been busy.

Arwen and Eowyn know their husbands well. :-)) And of course Gimli is irritated by the Elf's ability to read upside down. (I do it and it really seems to annoy people!) I suspect Gimli is just afraid Legolas will find out something and not pass it on to the Dwarf!
