The Grey at the End of the World  by jodancingtree 3 Review(s)
Raksha The DemonReviewed Chapter: 15 on 9/17/2005
A poignant look inside little Freiga, previously relegated to the position of shallow pretty girl and traitor-bait. Her fondness for Logi, who has been cruel as well as kind to her, is sad; she longs so much to matter to someone that she accepted an enemy and ruined them both. Yet she finds courage at last; though she refused to leave her tribe for Logi, she won't let her tribe kill her baby.

She's awakened to a new maturity in a very dark time, though; I'm not sure either Freiga or her baby will survive, though I'm almost certain that Logi won't live to see the child born.

Very sad, but enthralling story.

Author Reply: I'm so glad you like it, Raksha, even though it is very dark - yes, Freiga has grown up, but perhaps too late... we'll see.

Thank you for reviewing!

Apologies for the delay...
I was hoping to read from her! So that's how life turned out for Freiga... gee, such a couple of bereft people, and such a poor comfort she finds in her brutal orc...women's lot was always the poorer, then, But she's resolute enough. Now I'm wondering what's going to happen to them. Poor thng, just thinking they could ran away together.... Wow! This gets more and more entangled by the minute! chain mailed riders coming!

Author Reply: Right, talk about star-crossed lovers! And if only she had gone with him when he asked her to, and he had never betrayed Haldar... would he have learned to love tenderly? Probably Haldar would have sought him out, brought them provisions... if only.

Sorry for the delay in answering. I've been glued to the news reports, don't want to read them and can't manage not to. Must - get - back - to - writing!
But thanks so much for reviewing -

I almost hope she finds Canahando before she finds Logi, such a tale of woe and the babe has done no-one wrong.
Looking foward to more - as ever.

Author Reply: And even Freiga herself - where she's wronged anyone she's done it from love: falling in love with Logi, yet loving her people too much to run away from them - until now. Yet she's landed herself in a desperate situation, and if she meets an enraged and grief-stricken Canohando... he's ready to kill his grandson on sight. What about the "wanton" who seduced him?

I'm so glad you're enjoying it, Rose!
