Is it really chicken pox? What a coincidence!
Let me tell you a litte story: Two weeks and a couple of days ago, my brother caught the very same illness. Well, since then I've been waiting for any itching spots, but luckily nothing has occured so far. I'm a lot older than Merry is in this story...

Please continue this great story and let me see what possibly awaits me ;-)

Author Reply: Oh, then I hope you won`t get it. It is said that the period a person is contagious is about two weeks.

Thank you for reading.

This chapter was very nicely written - well balanced and with appropriate angst. I love angst (as you probably know) but it works best when it isn't overdone just for angst value - if you know what I mean. This story has so far earned its angst very honestly and it is a delight to read because of it.

Author Reply: Oh, thank you for such nice words! i do try to balance the angst and h/c. I like to be realistic in my writing and try to make what happens and what people feel how it would be in real life.

I feel sorry for both our lads.
Loving the story so far.

Author Reply: Yes, they are both having a rough time at the moment, aren`t they? And thank you. I`m glad you like it!

Nice... Pippin tries to sit with Merry but he is so impatient and wants Merry to wake up.. Merry is sick and dosen't like the feeling. Eglantina is worryed about Merry, since he is as precious to her as her own children...

Nice story, caan't wait to hear more...

Author Reply: Well, Merry is never ill and not really used to the feeling and Pippin isn`t used to it either so that when he finally sits with Merry he gets impatient when nothing happen.

Merry stays so much with his Took familiy that Eglantine would be like a second mother to him. I think both Merry and Pippin spend very much time together with the other one`s family and thus get a extra set of parents in their aunt and uncle, and for Merry`s part a set of sisters in Pippin`s sisters.

Author Reply: Thank you! And yes, poor Merry.

p.s. would hobbits know about oatmeal baths to help with the itching?

Author Reply: Well, do you want a spoiler then? Yes they would know about that. Thanks to Marigold I might add. I didn`t know about it untill she researched it to understand the illness better herself.

Yes, the whole smial is waiting to see how Merry will be. Myself included!

Looking forward to more.

Author Reply: Everyone is unfamiliar with this and thus I think the whole family will be feeling everything that happens more keenly than they do when Pippin is sick, since that happens so often. Of course, they don`t love him less for being sick often but new things are often more keenly felt.

I love how devoted the cousins are to one another. "I have watched over you all morning and it is time that you woke up so I can make you better.” Awwww!

Author Reply: lol, yes. They are really devoted and I think Pippin wants to make up for all the times Merry has sat watching over him when he`s ill.

Aaawww...poor Merry; and poor Pip, just wanting to help, and too little to really understand how. It's so sweet that he is managing to curb his natural energy for his dear Merry. And I love how concerned Eglantine and Paladin are being--I'm worried for Pippin's sisters, though. They are older as well, especially Pearl, and you seemed to indicate they'd not had it either.

Hope the healer will have something to make Merry feel better. I wonder what the hobbity equivalent of calamine lotion would be?

You have captured so well the feeling of how it is in a family when one member is sick like that.

It's a shame Pippin didn't get to tell his story to Merry yet...

Author Reply: Oh, thank you for your kind words! I think Pippin is really trying and he so wants to help as Merry has helped him so much when he has been ill. The lasses are having a rough time of this too, yes, and it is especially tough on Pearl as the oldest. Merry is like another brother to them I think.

The healer will come, and she will have a remedy... :)
