At the End of His Rope  by Lindelea 4 Review(s)
MirkwoodmaidenReviewed Chapter: 2 on 3/28/2020
Lindelea!

I do love your characterizations, even early on they do jump of the screen full of life!

>'I am pushing,' Diamond shouted. 'If you think you can do better you're welcome >to try!'

LOL. So true to life.

>Her son smiled down at her and said, 'Don't worry, Mother, I'm just going to >pretend you're a pony for the time being.'

Faramir is truly a grown-up lad.

I shall settle in for the long haul on this story!

Hope this review finds you well.

Stay safe.

Author Reply: I'm so glad the story has caught your imagination! It is probably similar to my going out of my comfort zone (hobbits) and reading about other folks in M-e... for example, you have helped me fall in love with Faramir and Eowyn and Eomer and want to see more of them, and I am finding myself intrigued with Imrahil, Thranduil and Legolas, and with the life of the Dunadain, and Beorn, from other authors, just for starters.

Yes, stay safe seems a good greeting in these days. So, same back at you.

Very nice beginning of life for these two. And for Faramir to take charge was lovely. Glad the labor was short and relatively sweet.

'Don't worry, Mother, I'm just going to pretend you're a pony for the time being.'

My new favorite line during a birth! I love how well Faramir handles it all and the slight blush that Diamond had at telling him he would have to raise her skirts. This has an old west feel to it just now, with the over-turned coach and the birth out in the middle of nowhere and the brandy to stay warm which they always did in a good western. Leave it to these Tooks to have twins in the middle of the road!

I love this little exchange:

'How many babes have you delivered, then?' she demanded.

'Well, none from under a coach, mind...' he prevaricated.

So hobbity and so very *Pippin*! I've just been summarizing the "Houses of Healing" chapter, and Merry's words about "light words" in serious situations are fresh in my mind.

I love how competent little Faramir is--such a dear lad.
