*falls over laughing*
Boromir and Hobbits - the best mix one could imagine... or wish for!

Author Reply: Belated thanks! --I just now saw this review.

Ah, yes, Boromir and Hobbits... What fun!

Wonderful story!

Boromir is a keen observer:

They were interesting little beings, these Halflings. You’d expect them to be soft as butter, looking at them, but they seemed to be as hard as the butter knife, on further acquaintance.

And he uses the image of food to describe the hobbits. That's funny! Obviously they have (literally) impressed him deeply :)

(I'm not sure if the word order is correct. But you know what I mean, don't you?)

Author Reply: I think the word order is correct, though my brain is not quite in working order yet. Up in the middle of the night with little one = brain doesn't work well next day. (OTOH, that used to be the best situation for writing - foggy brain = clear imaginings - I keep hoping the Muse will return from her extended holidays one of these days...)

I hadn't noticed at the time that he used food to describe the hobbits, but you're right, the metaphor fits the subject!

He has a lot to learn about Hobbit awareness of fungi and herbs, of course.

Very nice turn on poor Boromir, who's learning more about Hobbits than he'd ever dreamed possible.

Author Reply: Poor Boromir. He's really getting a good chance to learn about mythical (or do I mean legendary?) creatures.

I absolutely loved this! Would you honor me by archiving it at my LJ? I just loved the whole thing. Old Boromir is so perfect to "bounce" hobbits off of due to their strangeness to him and I don't see this observed nearly enough. And yes, as a noble, Boromir would and should be wary of poison! I loved everyone's reaction to his disgruntled and chilled condition, his startlement and finally his delight in, and desire for...what else? More soup! Lovely!

Author Reply: Archived! (at last)

Mmmm, if I had any mushrooms in the house (we keep running out of the the things, go figure) I'd be tempted to make up some of that mushroom soup for luncheon.

Got your email but am out of computer time for today... will set my sights on tomorrow.

*hugs* Hope you're feeling better!

LOL I don't recall this one but I do love it. Boromir was so well cared for in this and the hobbits were so cute.

Author Reply: LOL, y'know, I posted it so long ago that *I* didn't remember it either!

Thanks for stopping by and dropping a note.
