Dreamflower's Mathoms I  by Dreamflower 8 Review(s)

LOL. I do love your Folco. Everyone thought the same thing about him trying to give that baby to Estella. I think it's best that he was stopped at the stray kitten. I'm glad to see that Fatty was compensated for his jam tarts. :)

Author Reply: Folco's a sweetie. You know, even though everyone thought that--I think Folco might have tried to keep her for himself, actually. Fortunately we will never know--thank goodness they came across her parents!

Yes, Fatty did regret those jam tarts, didn't he? LOL!

LOL! A stray baby! LOL! Oh, poor Folco!

But I must tell you, I'm in the middle of "A New Reckoning" and loving every minute of it, and this does make me sad for Freddy.
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Yes, a "stray baby". *grin* This was a bit that I had originally planned to include as a flashback in "Road to Edoras", but I decided it deserved to be a story of its own.

I am often sad for Freddy, and miss Folco. Which is why I sometimes like to write pre-Quest stories with him in them.

Your wonderful tales are coming faster than I can review at the moment, but I do read them all. This was so sweet - I find Folco an engaging lad, even if he does suffer from foot-in-mouth disease!
I love the idea of taking home a little hobbit lass as a gift! LOL!

Author Reply: I do sometimes get a flurry of short tales all at once, LOL!

There's no denying that Folco's a sweetie, he's generous and kind-hearted. But he's never quite learned to put his brain in gear before engaging his mouth.

I think he would have liked to take the baby home--and if Estella liked her, he just might have done that. 8-D

I would have loved to see him try but I suppose the baby's parents might have missed her!

Author Reply: Yes, I am very much afraid that they would. But it was a good thing Fatty was with him when they found her, or he really might have tried to bring her home, LOL!

Yes, Folco just MIGHT have tried such a thing! Lovely descriptions, and love Estella, the kitten, and the bonnet! Lovely!

Author Reply: He just might. It's not a far step from giving her a kitten, is it?

I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

*LOL*
How did you get the idea Folco would gift Estella with a baby? I'd never have thought of *that*! But obviously Freddy, Rosamunda and Daisy could! Wonderful little fic!

Author Reply: Well, if you will recall from "Road to Edoras" Folco gave Estella the scrawny kitten that he and Fatty rescued, and he does seem to give strange gifts from time to time...if he'd come home with the baby and Estella said she liked her, well, that's just Folco, LOL!

I just love Folco. How he gets away with it! Even Rosamunda tolerates his foot-in-mouth disease. (A form of Tourette's?)

Even Freddy was onto the likelihood of his friend acquiring a small female hobbit as a pet - I'll bet he was relieved to find the child's parents. Probably even more relieved than his mother was!

Author Reply: I figure after all these years, Rosamunda has resigned herself to it. He is Freddy's best friend--that's not about to change. And I think probably Daisy was her best friend or at least a very close one, growing up. So she cuts Folco the kind of slack she never would for anyone else, even her own children.
(I hadn't thought of it being something like that, but it's an intriguing idea.)

Yes, I think everyone was rather relieved to find the parents. Except maybe for Folco, LOL!

The child had his foot in his mouth so often that she wondered he could walk.
(What a wonderful turn of phrase!)

Cook is just the *perfect* sort of cook to have, one that likes children and finds ways that they can help in the kitchen, a delight to young hearts.

I love the description of the picnic lunch, sounds yummy!

And Folco and his flute! My joy is complete.

“Fots?” she asked fearfully.
(O she is so very adorable!)

He tried to imagine what his mother would say if they came home with a baby and Folco decided to give her to Estella for a gift.
(LOL, our eldest dd when she was two would grab any smaller child by the hand and drag it over to us and ask, "Can't we keep this one?")

I know just how Blossom's parents felt. Whew. BTDT. You turn your back for a scant moment...

And the ending was just right.

Ah, your Folco, what a gem. And Freddy. And their friendship. How lovely to see them now, happy together in person and not just in memory.

Thank you so much. I just love my prize (this was my prize, wasn't it?)!

Author Reply: Yes, this was your prize! I was surprised you did not see it first on LJ!

Perfect description of Folco, wouldn't you say?

Yes, I thought that Cook would be like that--we know how young hobbits are when they learn to cook, and that duty would not be neglected in the Bolger household, even if Rosamunda chose to delegate it. But I think she would have done anyway, she seems fond of her young master and miss.

Well, of course I had to include his flute--I'm so glad that made you happy!

The part with little Blossom was a scenario that flitted through my mind when I was doing my Freddy-remembers-Folco chapter for Road to Edoras, but I regretfully left it out, as it didn't quite fit. As soon as you requested a Folco story, I knew that was the right place for that little bunny.

I'm so glad you liked the ending. I often fear that my endings are lame--it's sometimes hard to know just how to do it.

I am so very happy you love your prize!! 8-D
