Interesting.
FYI: it's "Never tickle a sleeping dragon". It's is basically Latin.

You just don't find many Dragon stories, so naturally, I read this.
And I liked it, especially the ending...heh.

Author Reply: Thank you so much! *g* Glad you liked it.

Well, there's no Glaurung in the character list or anything. *fingers at temples* I theenk maybe we are not paying them enough attention? :)

So - Balrogs are just a type of dragon? Sorta fits with the ancient mythology, although, the eating people part...

Sorry. You know. Dragons. Caught my eye. Nice little ficlet. Us moms have a saying similar to Hogworts...

Let Sleeping Babies Lie.

Author Reply: I can imagine why it caught your eye! *smiles*

No, Balrogs are ancient spirits. I don't know what the myth of dragons is in Tolkienverse - I think they were just created by the Evil Overlord to create general havoc. My canon is loose at best. ;)

Thank you! Glad you liked it...

Were dragons and Balrogs cousins? Or distantly related? ;)

You know, you could add a cackle after the last line. It simply calls for it.

Author Reply: Hah. Not that I know of. In any case, I don't think Maiar speech quite encompasses the incredible sliminess of the Uruloki. :D

Thank you!
