And remind her of winter skies. When she sees him later, anguished at the losses the war has brought upon his city, his eyes are grey, dark and wild. And remind her of rain-drenched skies when the summer storms break over the plains. It is when she thinks of him more often, later, that she realises – when he speaks to her his eyes are grey, light and calm. And remind her of warm spring days and gardens and bright colours. ***
